Caplum Active Discovery
Caplum Active Discovery module enables Caplum to become an active part of your network with real time detection and monitoring of network configuration and utilisation. Coupling this with the powerful physical cable management in Caplum makes an essential tool for every IT department. The operational benefits from Caplum active module are that it adds security, allows active traceability, automatically maintains Caplum records and recovers spare port capacity.

One of the immediate pay backs on this module is the recovery of spare ports lost in your network. Spare port recovery can be up to 40% of an established network. The fully installed costs of a managed switch port is circ £25 per port. In a 10,000 port network, if you only made a 10% recovery, it would lead to year one savings of £25,000 or £100,000 for a 40% recovery. Every year after that will have savings due to optimal port usage and informed management of the network. Caplum Active will manage each switch port and the devices connected to it providing the following features:-

Our system architecture is very flexible with just one master device we can manage upto 30,000 switch ports howver if a higher polling schedule / volume is required a poller can be added onto a VM machine to provide extra performance. In multisite implementations the network can be broken down into realms and additional pollers to manage the extra capacity.
